The D.O.D Look | Denim on Denim

Whether its a Jean, denim skirt, dungaree paired with either a Denim top or jacket, denim on denim is one of those styles that will not stop trending. Denim on denim still has a somewhat retro vibe which arouses an 80’s feeling but with the different shades, materials, colours and styles this fashion trend is always being re-invented from generation to generation.

The below look features a dark shaded blue denim jacket with a lighter washed-out blue, dirty and ragged skinny jean, with denim on denim detail is very important. The ripped dirty jean and the chiselled detailed cut of the jacket gives the outfit an edgy look. I decided to pair the double denim look with a white lace-up swimsuit, white heels and a gold and black detailed choker.

The skinny fitted jeans look flattering with the Long denim jacket but I would also love to try this look with a pair of ragged boyfriend jeans. While most people seem to be loving this trend question is will you double-up on denim this season?

A few points to note when wearing double denim:

1. Have fun with it, there are various ways in which the look can be done, whether you prefer wearing similar colours, washes or shades of denim or two contrasting colours e.g. Black jeans with blue denim jacket, play with the colours and styles to get your preferred look.

2. If you are wearing similar washes of denim head to toe i.e., blue denim shirt with a blue denim skirt or jean, break the look with eye catching accessories, bag, shades, shoes or even a different colour and style coat such as a waterfall coat.

3. And if you ever need motivation on how not to do it, please google Britney spears and Justin Timberlake matching denim.

Thank you
